Pevco Patents Automatic Empty Carrier Storage, Retrieval and Distribution System

Baltimore, MD (September 28, 2010) – Pevco, a leading provider of pneumatic tube delivery systems to the healthcare industry, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued the company patent No. 7751930 entitled, “Automatic Empty Carrier Storage, Retrieval and Distribution System.” Pevco’s Empty Carrier System is an innovation that speeds the delivery of empty carriers to any pneumatic tube station at the touch of a button.

In a traditional pneumatic tube system, empty carriers may not be available when or where they are needed requiring staff to waste time searching for empty carriers or stockpile them which takes up valuable storage space. Pevco’s Empty Carrier innovation solves the problem. For example, the Pevco V-Panel™ station user controls offer one-touch Request Empty and Send Empty carrier buttons. Empty carriers are strategically stored within the system and can be called when and where they are needed. Users that have more carriers than needed can easily send them into the tube system so they can be available to others.

“Pevco continues to be a pioneer in pneumatic tube system design and function for the healthcare environment,” explained Fred Valerino, Sr. “We are excited that this patent allows us to provide our customers with the most innovative, best performing, pneumatic tube systems available.”

Pevco’s patent portfolio most notably encompasses a 1997 patent, No. 5636947, for leak-resistant carriers and a 1999 patent, No. 5901966, for removable glide rings. The leak-resistant carrier innovation protects against spills from leaking from the carrier into the tubes preventing costly and time-consuming clean-up and system downtime. Glide rings ensure carriers move efficiently through the pneumatic tubes. When worn, Pevco’s removable glide rings can easily and cost-effectively be replaced saving customers both time and money.
