New PTS touch control tracks patient-critical cargo with an integrated barcode reader and networked web application
Las Vegas, NV (December 3, 2012) – Pevco, a U.S. manufacturer of pneumatic tube systems (PTS) for hospitals, today announced at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition the release of Pevco Link™, a new touch control with integrated barcode tracking for PTS stations.
Pevco Link’s tablet-like touch control provides intuitive functions, an easy to read color display, and a built-in directory of PTS station addresses that is easy to update. With Pevco Link, sending pharmaceuticals, specimens and blood products through the system is fast, safe and simple. The touch control’s bright, contrasting graphics and large keys make it easy to complete a transaction with confidence.
With its integrated barcode reader, Pevco Link lets users track the contents of any carrier. Users know exactly what item was sent, when it left the station, when it arrived and who received it. Individual transaction details are easily accessed at the PTS station using the touch control or complete transaction records are available through the secure web application.
Pevco Link’s user-friendly touch control is available without the barcode reader for stations that do not require tracking.
Pevco Link features:
- An A to Z Directory that provides a complete list of station addresses that is easy to use and update
- Twelve Shortcut Keys, customizable for each station, so sending to the most frequent destinations is simple
- A large Keypad for users who prefer to enter station addresses directly
- A Secure Send transaction mode that gives users one-touch protection of sensitive items without barcode tracking
- The ability to send or request empty carriers with the touch of a button, helping to ensure a station is never without a carrier
“With Pevco Link’s touch control, we have made operating a PTS station as easy as using a tablet computer,” said Pevco President Fred Valerino Jr.“ And the tracking functionality of Pevco Link gives medical professionals the peace of mind that their contents are secure.”
Pevco Link will become standard equipment on all new stations leaving the Pevco factory in the second quarter of 2013. It can also be retrofitted to existing Pevco and other leading manufacturers’ pneumatic tube systems one station at a time or as part of a complete system upgrade.
